Are you looking for the perfect gift for the avid reader on your list? Or maybe a little something for yourself? Either way, you’ve come to the right place! Keep reading for our list of the best gifts for readers.
Books!
Of course, books are the most obvious gifts for readers. However, unless you’re given a specific list of titles, the right book can be tricky to pick out. Check to see if they have a Goodreads “Want to Read” list to help you shop. If you know their favorite genre, search the top new releases for something they’re likely to enjoy and haven’t read yet. If you aren’t sure which specific book they’d enjoy, don’t worry, there are plenty of other book-related options on this list!
Kindle Unlimited Gift Membership
If not a specific book, why not unlimited reading and listening to a wide variety of books? Kindle Unlimited offers just that and can be gifted in 6-month, 1-year, or 2-year increments!
Kindle or E-Reader
If they don’t have one already, one of the best gifts for readers has to be a Kindle. Especially for readers on the go, a Kindle makes it much easier to travel with your books and read wherever you are! The quality, features, and integration with Amazon make the Kindle Paperwhite my favorite e-reader, but there are also other options with a variety of features and prices.
Audiobooks
An audiobook could be the perfect gift, particularly for those with a long commute. Similar to the Books section above, find something from their “Want to Read” list that you think they’ll enjoy listening to. You could also check if there are any audiobooks narrated by their favorite celebrity as something they might not usually read but would enjoy.
Audible Gift Membership
If you can’t find the perfect audiobook, an Audible gift membership will let them choose! Available in 1, 3, 6, and 12-month durations, they’ll get an audiobook for each month of membership. Audible also provides a variety of other benefits you can read about in our full review here.
Reading Accessories
Beyond books and reading content, there are tons of accessories that can make reading easier or more fun. Any of these great gifts will help the reader you love to enjoy their hobby for years to come!
Book Light
A good book light can be essential to reading on-the-go or in bed without disturbing their partner. There are tons of varieties to choose from, but I’d recommend an Amber Light that’s easy on the eyes, blocking blue light to help promote healthy sleep!
Bookmarks
Bookmarks make a fun, easy gift for any reader. There are bookmarks for any style! Look for their favorite series, topic, genre, etc. to find a bookmark they’ll love using and will remind them of you each time they use it.
Book Weight or Magnifier
For hands-free reading, a clear book weight can come in handy. Particularly for cooking, where cookbooks are also protected from spills! A paperweight magnifier can also make a great gift.
Bookends
Available in a variety of styles, bookends can make a great addition to any decor. Some of my personal favorites are these geode bookends, simple wooden bookends, or these Lord of the Rings inspired ones.
Invisible Bookshelf
With the Conceal Floating Bookshelf, books appear to float on your wall! A novel gift idea for anyone to display their books in a fun way. The shelf has small hooks that conceal the shelf inside the cover of the first book and make the shelf disappear. Awesome idea!
Best Gifts for Reading Analysts
For those who love to analyze what they read, consider giving them a kit for note-taking and tracking their favorite quotes! Include a reading journal or notebook, post-it flags, pens, pencils, and highlighters.
Best Gifts for Pleasure Readers
A similar care-package can be put together for those who prefer to cozy up and read for pleasure. Include a blanket, pillow, and maybe some cozy socks or candles!
Book Inspired Gear
Still not sure? Search for their favorite series, character, genre, etc. and you’re bound to find book inspired gear they’ll enjoy. Many of the popular series, like Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, or Star Wars, have thousands of gift options! Some specific categories to narrow your search could be book-inspired clothing, art, mugs, or home decor. Keep reading for some of my favorite items in each category!
Clothing
Some may say clothes aren’t a fun gift, but we all need them and with the right book-related theme they can certainly be fun! Search under their favorite book, series, or character for the best results or check out some of my general favorites:
Art
There is a lot of really cool art regarding book quotes and reading!
Mugs
Mugs (and wine glasses) are also prime candidates for book and reading quotes!
Home Decor
Book-inspired home decor expands far beyond the wall art discussed above. Options include decorative pillows, blankets, signs, mirrors, bookshelves, etc.
I hope our list of the best gifts for readers has helped you find the perfect gift for the reader(s) in your life! Which is your favorite gift idea? Did you find a great reading-related gift not included on this list? We’d love to hear from you in the comments.

Great list!
While some felt a bit on the « obvious » side (like a book- but yeah be sure you know which one!! It’d be a killer to give the wrong book or the wrong genre 😂😂 yikes!), some I haven’t thought about. Like the bookends – I saw a gorgeous one with dachshunds 😍 a while ago when I was on vacation.. but 30$ it stayed there .. ahah! I’d also be in for any pretty bookmarks!!
My preference is always to say to give me a giftcard of our bookstore x) so I can pick whatever I want myself — I also gave two different books to my parents & alex to buy (which I got!)
